You know, sometimes you’ve just gotta laugh at the absurdity of a situation, right?
Yeah, this is one of those times. Why? Because by trying to apologise for screwing up the Bokoblin Mask quiz question in the Nintendo Today app, Nintendo somehow broke the app again.
Seriously. Their message apologising for the issue somehow broke the app itself, since users on certain mobile devices couldn’t reach the okay button and close the message. As a result, they couldn’t collect the new card for that day, breaking the Zelda collectible cards feature more than ever before.

Regarding the notice titled “Apology and Update on Our Response to the The Legend of Zelda Collectible Cards Quiz Issue” which was displayed when accessing the content starting at 12:00 (UK time) on September 18th. An issue occurred on some devices where users were unable to press the “OK” button to close the notice. As a result, these users were unable to receive cards.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. This issue was resolved at 06:00 (UK time) on September 19th.
We will provide an update once our response to this issue has been finalised.
Obviously, it’s not all that important in the grand scheme of things. No-one is acting like a few unobtainable quiz cards is a major issue here.
But it is an hilarious one nonetheless. That somehow, by merely apologising for the mistake and promising an update to fix it, Nintendo somehow managed to break everything a second time, necessitating a second apology and update.
Yeah, it’s basically a story right out of a sitcom. The kind where our plucky protagonist tries their best to fix a mistake, only to end up digging themselves an even deeper hole in the process.
Regardless, that’s how Nintendo broke the Nintendo Today app by apologising for their previous mistake, and how they plan to fix it at a later date. Hopefully there won’t be any more crazy issues where Zelda collectible cards are concerned!
