In the TV movie for Phineas and Ferb, there’s an iconic line from Dr Doofenshmirtz that’s always stuck with us. Namely, when his alternate universe counterpart threatens him with a sock puppet, he says the following line:
Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
It’s a great saying, and one that we’ve said surprisingly often when it comes to video game mods and hacks. Like say, the topic of today’s article.
Why?
Because once again, we’ve got another Legend of Zelda mod that replaces the main protagonist with Ashley from the WarioWare series. Unlike the Wind Waker mod covered last time though, this time it’s a bit more fitting. This time, it’s one that replaces Zelda with Ashley in Echoes of Wisdom.
Here are some screenshots from mod creator Behon:
As you can see, it looks surprisingly good for the most part. Ashley’s model fits the style of the game perfectly here, and her role as a magic wielding witch translates rather nicely to a game about summoning monsters with a magical staff. Honestly? It’s a much better setup than the Wind Waker one, and one that clashes a hell of a lot less with the story and general setting of the game.
So yeah, that’s the next Ashley related mod for the Zelda series, and another way to play as everyone’s favourite young witch in a Legend of Zelda title. But what do you think about it? Is Ashley a fitting replacement for Zelda in a game like Echoes of Wisdom? What other wacky character mods and crossovers do you expect to see in future?
