Nintendo Officially Ends Japan’s 3DS Production

As the Nintendo Switch grows strength, its predecessors grows weaker by the day and now it looks like Japan will end production of the 3DS and 2DS systems for its region, no doubt other regions productions will be dead by the end of the year if not soon after.

Today Nintendo simply announced that Nintendo 3DS XL, which goes by “LL” in Japan, the Nintendo 2DS XL and Nintendo 2DS as well as the New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and the standard Nintendo 3DS Manufacturing of the named series hardware has ended” (ニンテンドー3DSシリーズの本体の生産はすべて終了いたしました).

Looking a bit further, the Nintendo 3DS series hardware is no longer listed on the official US Nintendo page which the long time url of www.nintendo.com/3ds now redirects to www.nintendo.com.

RIP 3DS, you were a great handheld!
