Earlier today, Nintendo revealed the Switch 2. This was the follow up to the original Switch, which retained the same basic functionality while improving on the design and technical elements.
However, that trailer didn’t really give much away. It showed the console itself and how it worked like the Switch did… and that’s about it. It was a quick preview, and not much more.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to learn more things about the console. Why? Because right after the trailer was posted, they announced a Nintendo Direct about the console would be airing on the 2nd of April 2025. Here’s the announcement in question:
Stay tuned for a closer look at #NintendoSwitch2 in #NintendoDirect: Nintendo Switch 2 – 4.2.2025, airing on April 2nd. The broadcast time will be shared at a later date.

As you can see, it’s still a good few months away. So while the Switch 2 is now known about, it’ll be a while before we actually learn more about its features and games.
Still, it’s exciting news nonetheless. Indeed, if it’s anything like the original Switch presentation, we should see a ton of interesting info on the system and its games here. More on Mario Kart, a look at a new 3D Mario, info about how the magnetic Joy-Cons and new controller buttons work… there’s a lot to go over here, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
So yeah, get ready folks! In three months time, we’ll be learning even more about the Switch 2 and its games!
