Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC is Coming Next Week!

Well Mario Kart fans, it turns out you won’t be waiting too long for the next set of Booster Course Pass tracks. Why? Because earlier today, Nintendo announced they’d be released next Thursday on March 9th, and posted a new trailer showing them all in action! Here’s the video:

Plus the full list of tracks for the wave in general:

Tracks

Fruit Cup

  • Tour Amsterdam Drift
  • GBA Riverside Park
  • Wii DK Summit
  • Yoshi’s Island

Boomerang Cup

  • Tour Bangkok Rush
  • DS Mario Circuit
  • GCN Waluigi Stadium
  • Tour Singapore Speedway

It’s an… interesting set of tracks for sure. On the one hand, you’ve got some of the best city tracks from Tour, including Singapore Speedway, Amsterdam Drift and Bangkok Rush. So as far as mobile game representation goes, you’re set there.

And the ones from Double Dash and Wii are fan favourites too. DK’s Snowboard Cross and Waluigi Stadium are great levels, and they look even better here.

Plus the new Yoshi’s Island track looks as incredible as ever…

It’s just that we then also get Mario Circuit as our Mario Kart DS representation.

Which makes us wonder… why? Is that really the best choice of DS track for the game? It’s not bad by any means (especially compared to the likes of Figure Eight Circuit), but it’s certainly no Airship Fortress or Luigi’s Mansion to say the least. Was it chosen because it was a new Tour retro? Because someone at Nintendo liked the track more than the public?

Who knows, but it’s here now, and looks better than it’s ever been. Plus, with Wigglers added as new obstacles, it’s clear Nintendo are doing more than just porting the models over this time around.

Especially when you take their graphical efforts into account too.

Since this wave of DLC looks a lot better than the previous ones as far as lighting and texture work are concerned. In fact, tracks like Riverside Park actually seem to have 8 style grass and tree textures now. It’s a nice improvement for sure, and just confirms that the Booster Course Pass is indeed getting better and better with every update.

Regardless, if you want to see more of these tracks, check out the video gallery below…
