Last week, Nintendo revealed the full lineup of tracks for wave 3 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. In that lineup, you had the following tracks included in the Rock Cup:
Rock Cup Tracks
- Tour London Loop
- GBA Boo Lake
- 3DS Rock Rock Mountain/Alpine Pass
- Wii Maple Treeway
Plus the ones below in the Moon Cup:
Moon Cup Tracks
- Tour Berlin Byways
- DS Peach Gardens
- Merry Mountain
- 3DS Rainbow Road
However, did you know that didn’t used to be the case? That somewhere in development, the order was swapped around almost entirely?
Yep, thanks to an old unlisted trailer for wave 3, we now that the layout changed entirely during the run up to the trailer. Here’s the trailer in question:
As well as the track order for wave 3 shown at the end of it:
Rock Cup
- Tour London Loop
- DS Peach Gardens
- GBA Boo Lake
- 3DS Rock Rock Mountain/Alpine Pass
Moon Cup
- Tour Berlin Byways
- Wii Maple Treeway
- Merry Mountain
- 3DS Rainbow Road
Indicating that originally, Maple Treeway took the spot that Waluigi Stadium held in the datamines! This means that not only was the change likely quite a last minute one for Nintendo, but actually took part in two phases, with the latter seemingly being done just to throw off all the rumours and leaks going around.
It’s pretty interesting really, and proves without a doubt that Nintendo is doing their very best to throw everyone for a loop here.
So yeah, what do you think about it? Do you prefer the new track order for wave 3, or did you think the original one worked better here? And what are your thoughts on Nintendo deliberately messing with datamines and leakers in general?
