When it comes to Pokémon TCG Pocket, one thing that fans have always wondered is what exactly the next expansion will bring. Will it be a new generation, like how Celestial Guardians was generation 7 themed and Wisdom of Sea & Sky was generation 2 themed? Will it be about a particular type of card, like how Shining Revelry and Mega Shine were focused on shiny Pokémon?
Or will it be something else, like how Eevee Grove was all about Eeveelutions or how Triumphant Light was about Arceus?
The possibilities felt endless, and led to a ton of discussion among the fanbase.
Now though, we may have an answer. Or at least, one for what May 2026’s expansion could bring to the game.
Since according to various dataminers, it seems like Paradox Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be the next addition to the title.
That’s because there are labels for Ancient and Future Pokémon in-game, which fit perfectly in the space the Ultra Beast ones did on those cards:

Looks like Paradox Pokémon will be coming soon
In the latest update, 1.6.0, they added these labels that would work exactly the same as the Ultra Beast label#PokemonTCGPocket pic.twitter.com/uSEXmyO0le

Archived here in case they’re taken down:

As well as an Ultra Beast card showing the place said label would appear:

Note the Ultra Beast label in the top left
So, it seems very likely that the next set will revolve around them for sure. Sorta like how Extradimensional Crisis did for the Ultra Beasts back in May 2025.
What’s more, this isn’t exactly the only evidence that an Ultra Beast themed set will be heading to the game.
No, apparently there are golden frame templates hinting at two professor cards in the set too. Like say, Professor Sada and Professor Turo from Scarlet and Violet:

Thanks to these Gold Frames we know they'll include two Professor cards in that set

Finally, there’s the timing. As you know, every TCG Pocket set gets released at the end of its respective month. We had Mega Shine on March 26th 2026, Pulsing Aura on April 28th 2026, etc.
You know what we had on May 29th 2025?
Extradimensional Crisis. The set which introduced Ultra Beasts to the game.
Yeah, the timing tracks pretty well doesn’t it? One year after we get a set dedicated to a new type of card based on a type of special Pokémon from the series, we get a set dedicated to a new type of card based on a similar type of special Pokémon from the series.
And the pattern doesn’t exactly end there. Do you notice anything about this year’s sets?
Yep, they all perfectly mirror sets from the A series from the year before. For example, March’s 2025 set was Shining Revelry (based on shiny Pokemon), and March 2026’s set was Mega Shine (also based on shiny Pokemon).
Meanwhile the other sets all tend to flip between smaller sets focused on a smaller selection of cards, and big ones focused on a wide variety of them. Celestial Guardians came after Shining Revelry, with 223 cards, while Pulsing Aura came after Mega Shine, with 234 cards. Triumphant Light was one of the smallest sets in 2025 (with 91 cards), as was Paldean Wonders in 2026 (with 131 cards).
The DeNA strategy seems to be clear: each series of cards mirrors the last one thematically and expansion size wise. Presumably, the set after this will be another small specialised one, and the one after that will be a massive one that adds tons of new cards and species.
Either way, it seems like Paradox Pokémon are the focus for the next set here. Still, what are your thoughts here? Are there any particular species you want to get cards in TCG Pocket? How do you think they’ll impact the game overall?
