Well folks, it seems like Nintendo’s released another trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. What’s more, it’s an awesome one even by trailer standards, focusing heavily on boss and mini boss battles in the process. Take a look:

Yeah, you’ve got it all here. Ganondorf playing the pipe organ and approaching Link, in all his ominous glory:
Link fighting Morpha in the Water Temple, as well as a Big Poe in Hyrule Field:
Plus footage of the Dark Link and Bongo Bongo battles, show two of the more interesting enemy designs in the game:
And there are quite a few interesting little details to point out here. First, the battle with Morpha seems to take place in a room slightly different from the one in the original game.
Since well, it appears the spikes on the wall are missing. So, unless Nintendo have somehow made it even easier than in the N64 and 3DS versions, it appears like the age old strategy of ‘hide in the corner and drag the core to you’ may not work in the remake. Presumably, the boss has a way to grab Link no matter where he is in the arena.
Secondly, it seems Link uses his hand to charge his arrows with magic now, as seen in the moment where he shoots a fire arrow at that Big Poe. Neat, it’s a nice visual touch for sure.
Dark Link also seems to have gotten a bit of a visual upgrade too. Not only is there now a shadow effect around him, but it appears like he uses greyscale versions of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield in this game, rather than a generic sword and shield like in the N64 version. Wonder if it’ll actually mirror the weapon and shield Link’s carrying at the time?
Bongo Bongo seems to have a glow effect too. Seems like he now glows purple when he’s about to/currently attacking Link, and returns to his normal grey/brown colour when vulnerable to your attacks.
There’s also a scene showing Link fighting a Dinolfos later on. Given the layout, this may be our first look inside Ganon’s Castle, showing how ornate and well-decorated it all is.
Finally, we get Ganon’s Castle. A place which looks absolutely incredible in the trailer, and which can be seen in even better quality in this promo shot:
Jeez, this place has seen a glow up for sure. Indeed, while the original looked somewhat like a scale model randomly thrown into a war-torn wasteland, the remake’s one feels like an area straight out of the Dark Souls series. It’s an incredible upgrade for sure, and one that shows just how much more lifelife the work is this around.
So, that’s the latest trailer for the Ocarina of Time remake, and everything included in it. Does it make you even more excited for the game? What are you hoping to see revealed next?
