No, not the original’s 32 MB file size. The remake’s own file size, which can be compared to other modern Nintendo games.
Which according to various sources, is approximately 27 GB. So, how does that compare to other games on the system? Or other modern Zelda games as a whole?
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is approximately 27 GB on Switch 2.

Well, it’s complicated. On the one hand, it dwarfs Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. The former is only 14.4 GB, while the latter is 16.3 GB. Hence it’s clearly a step above the last generation’s titles in terms of raw file size. Even with the Switch 2 upgrades bringing them to approximately 20 GB.
But it’s not the biggest game in the series, nor on the Switch 2. No, that crown goes to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which clocks in at an insane 43.5 GB. Yeah, that’s kinda crazy to think about. It completely dwarfs’ titles like Mario Kart World (22.1 GB), Donkey Kong Bananza (9-10 GB) and Pokémon Pokopia (6.8 GB) and blows its predecessor Age of Calamity out of the water (11.1 GB).
And given that Age of Imprisonment has significantly less content than any of those games, we’re gonna go out on a limb and say the title is probably bloated as all hell. So, maybe it’s not the best comparison regardless.
Still, that’s how big the OoT remake is when downloaded. It’s significantly bigger than every in-house Switch 1 and 2 game so far, but still comparatively small compared to titles like Age of Imprisonment or Final Fantasy VII Intergrade (90 GB)
