Recently, Famitsu spoke to the team behind the incredibly successful Splatoon spinoff Splatoon Raiders, which was launched on Switch 2 on July 3rd 2026. In that interview, they asked whether the developers planned to update the game or release DLC, getting the following in response:
Seita Inoue: Splatoon Raiders is developed with the aim of enjoying a complete experience with the contents itself, unlike the main series, which changes the way you play while adjusting the balance and adding content.
So, I am not thinking about updates related to DLC or game balance. However, if a fatal problem is found, we will try to respond as necessary.
In other words, no. There are no plans for any updates or DLC, minus the odd bug fix.
But is this really a bad thing? Does every game need updates or DLC?
Honestly, no. Plenty of games are perfectly fine without it, and can be released as a finished experience.
After all, Super Mario Odyssey is a perfectly complete game as is. That game didn’t need DLC, even if Nintendo gave it some with Balloon World and the Labo VR missions.
Same goes with many of the Mario RPGs, many Legend of Zelda and Kirby games, and Donkey Kong Bananza. Yeah these games may have gotten DLC or updates, but they didn’t really need it. No-one would argue that Bananza would have been incomplete without DK Island & Emerald Rush.
And the same goes for Splatoon Raiders too. Yeah, it may be nice for some people if it got DLC. But the game doesn’t really need it. It’s a complete, polished experience with everything you need in this sort of game, and it’s perfectly fine to leave it at that.
So, Splatoon Raiders doesn’t need updates or DLC, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any.
