Yeah, you probably saw this one coming too, didn’t you? Indeed, with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC being a Nintendo Direct fixture in just about every presentation since early 2022, it was inevitable that the same would occur this time as well, with a short trailer showing off the new characters and at least one of the new tracks in today’s Direct too.

However, while the timing of the trailer was predictable, the characters certainly were not. Why? Because despite the game only having two more empty character slots on the character select screen, we’re getting four of them in this wave of the DLC!

Yep, now Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline and Peachette are all coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as is the Daisy Circuit track from Mario Kart Wii. Here’s the trailer showing them all in action:

As you can see, it’s a pretty good conclusion to the Booster Course Pass. You’ve got all the fan favourites returning (plus a lesser-known newcomer from Tour), an unexpected Wii track is seeing a comeback…

Plus, the aesthetics look nice and charming here too. It’s definitely more than we ever expected in this wave, and a very nice way to cap things off here.
