When it comes to crossovers in Zelda fan projects, a few series usually come to mind. There’s the Mario series, which has a heavy presence in official and unofficial Zelda games of all kinds. There’s the Metroid series, which at least plays somewhat like a Zelda game mechanically speaking, and which could be swapped without too much of a mechanical shift.
And then there’s stuff that’s actually based on the Zelda series, like Okami, Tunic or 3D Dot Game Heroes. All of these franchises seem like obvious choices for a fan crossover here, with many of them actually having been created by modders and game devs in the past.
But today we’ve got a much weirder choice of crossover. Something that no one in their right mind would ever expect to see.
The Legend of Zelda X Halo.
Yup, notCHase (the same guy who made all those Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom themed mods for Ocarina of Time) has now made something Halo themed as well. It’s… a sight to behold to say the least:

As you can see, not only did he added the energy sword and grenades into the game (which fit surprisingly well into Ocarina of Time’s engine), but he also added the Warthog too.
Yeah, the vehicle. The one you can drive around with a machine gun turret on the back.
What’s more, it seemingly functional too. Not only can Link drive around Hyrule at high speeds in this thing, but he can also pick up Zelda as an AI controlled companion and have her man the turret on the back too. It’s quite the sight to behold, especially given how easily Hyrule’s monsters fall to a hail of bullets.
Kinda makes us want to see how Ganon would react to be honest. To see how the demon king would respond to the hero and princess driving up to him in a jeep and filling him with lead. It certainly seems like it’d make for a much shorter final battle, that’s for sure!
Regardless, it’s neat to see even more mechanics from other franchises added into the Zelda series like this, especially from the same guy that added Tears of the Kingdom abilities and Pikmin. Here’s hoping he actually releases these mods sometime soon, and we all get to use this tech for ourselves!
