As anyone who’s a fan of the series knows all too well, Nintendo and Sony are currently in the process of adapting the Legend of Zelda series into a live-action movie. This movie will star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda, and be produced by Avi Arad and Wes Ball.
However, despite knowing this much about the film, there’s still a lot up in the air. Like say, Link’s actual design in the film.
Since while we have promo shots of Ainsworth and Bragson in the movie, we don’t see much of them in their actual costumes. There’s no Master Sword, no hat, no Hylian Shield… there are definitely aspects of Links’s design present in the promo pics, but it looks fairly generic overall.
But it seems like those elements may well be present in the film itself after all. Why? Because Gyula Pados (the film’s director of photography) has shared concept art for Link in the film. And well, to say he looks a lot more like the game depictions may be a bit of an understatement:
Yeah, that’s Link alright. He’s got the outfit and gear, the overall look, and seems like a character straight from Twilight Princess.
Yeah, it’s clearly gonna be a little different given that the artwork doesn’t seem to resemble Bragson at all, but it’s still neat to see, and still indicates that the team behind this movie want to make a very faithful adaptation of the games.
What’s more, that’s not the only reason to think that either. No, plenty of other behind the scenes photos and concepts have been posted too, all with the the charm expected from a movie like this.
Such as this logo for the stunt department:

Love the style here!
Yeah, it’s using the Breath of the Wild font for sure. So, it’s pretty likely that said Wii U and Switch game will be a big inspiration behind this depiction of the series.
Which is only backed up further by other pics from Pados’s Instagram account about the movie wrap party. Like this gift from a member of the crew/their family that shows cute little pics of Link in a Breath of the Wild style outfit and what appears to be a Kokiri with a fairy:

Is that a child’s depiction of BotW Link and a Kokiri?
There’s also this patch for the camera department too, which shows an absolutely adorable pixel art depiction of Link in Hyrule, alongside a cameraman filming the movie:

As well as a photo showing the cast in front of what appears to be the Temple of Time from Ocarina of Time:

Wait, is that the Temple of Time set?
So, don’t worry Zelda fans. While the movie’s official promo shots may make it out to be a fairly generic fantasy flick, it’s quite clear the people working on it are indeed die-hard fans of the original franchise, and that the film’s willing to reference the entire series because of that.
Regardless, what do you think? Do you like this artwork or this behind-the-scenes info regarding the movie? How much more excited does it make you for the film overall?
