June 2026 Nintendo Direct: Our Predictions

June 2026 Nintendo Direct: Our Predictions

Well, it’s official. A new Nintendo Direct has been announced, and it’s happening tomorrow at 3pm UK time.

Yet it always leaves one question open. Namely, what exactly will be included here?

What games and apps will be present in this 50-minute behemoth of a Direct? What exactly will the Nintendo Treehouse folks spend so long playing and discussing this time around?

Well, we have some theories. So as expected, here are our predictions for tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct…

Ocarina of Time for Switch 2

There’s a lot of talk of an Ocarina of Time remake, and we believe it’s being revealed tomorrow

Starting with the big one. There will be an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.

The rumours about this one are everywhere, and it’s all but confirmed to exist at this point. It’s the industry’s worst kept secret right now.
So, tomorrow will be when we know what this actually entails. Whether it’s a big remake in the style of the wild era games or Twilight Princess, or merely an upscaled version of the 3DS remaster.

Star Fox

This has to be in the Direct, right?

We’re also pretty sure that Star Fox will get featured at some point too. It’s literally Nintendo’s biggest upcoming game right now, and there’s almost certainly a ton of things they’ve yet to reveal about it.

Tomorrow’s Direct is when that info will all come flooding out.

Splatoon Raiders

Another sure-fire inclusion

On a similar note, this is another upcoming Switch 2 game we don’t know all that much about, and which seems perfect for a presentation like tomorrows. Presumably, it’ll get a new trailer of some sort.

Switch Online Challenges

There’s also the matter of Switch Online challenges to talk about. These were datamined by Yakumono on Bluesky recently, and worked like the challenges in the NES Remix games minus the whole remixed level aspect.

They have implemented challenges. Stuff akin to NES Remix (not the Remix kind, from what I can tell though). You cannot access them yet, you have to wait until the NSO app updates.
I will not reveal the games, y'all will probably find out soon.

But they’re not public yet. Just hiding in the code waiting to be revealed to the public.

Presumably, tomorrow’s Direct is when that reveal will happen.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

There’s also the matter of that Castlevania game to talk about too. Konami announced it was coming to every system, but didn’t give a release date for the Switch 2 version.

Seems likely that release date (and maybe some other info) will be included in this Direct instead.

Rhythmn Heaven Groove

Rhythm Heaven Groove Logo

Another upcoming Switch game, and hence another one likely to be included in the Direct. The company is doing some marketing for it on Twitter at the moment, but there’s not very much of it. The Direct could be when that marketing campaign kicks off in full.

Mostly Sure-Fire Hits

Wario Land

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 Artwork

Feels like Wario’s comeback is near…

Onto some slightly less likely inclusions now. Notably, all the leaked/rumoured games mentioned by multiple people.

Like Wario Land. According to various rumours online, a new Wario Land game is in the works at Nintendo, and will be released sometime in 2027.

If this is indeed the case, it’s almost certain to be shown in the Direct tomorrow.

Super Metroid Remake

Similarly, a Super Metroid remake is also rumoured alongside that new Wario Land game. If either is true, it’s probably going to be shown off in the Direct tomorrow.

New Switch Sports Title

See above. It’s also included in the same leak as Wario Land and Super Metroid.

A Second Star Fox Game

Finally, there’s talk of a second Star Fox game on Switch 2, with said game being referred to as a brand-new adventure game that doesn’t remake the original title. Given it’s in the same set of leaks as the above 3 games, we’d give it a high likelihood of being in the Direct.

It Seems Logical…

There are also a few logical inclusions here. Ones which don’t seem too interesting, but which logically seem to be on the way.

Mario Kart World DLC

Mario Kart World Icon

If Mario Kart World doesn’t get DLC or a major update announced, we’ll be surprised

With the Mario Kart World DLC being the big one. Yeah, we all want this at this point. More tracks, more characters, more Knockout Tour rallies and options, the usual stuff.

But we’re not sure how it’ll be implemented here. Given that Mario Kart World is about $80 right now, charging for DLC feels like a really bad idea on Nintendo’s part. If they don’t announce any free updates, they’re gonna get crucified by the internet.

At the same time though, not updating the game or releasing DLC at all is also a terrible idea. Mario Kart World is a decent game right now, but it’s not a finished one. It lacks features found in prior Mario Kart games, it has a severe dearth of content in terms of tracks and single player content and it’s made choices that have driven away many long-time fans.

So, we believe Nintendo is going to do one of two things here:

  1. They’ll release a big update with plenty of new options and features, while saving DLC for new characters and tracks
  2. Or they’ll just make it a free update setup with new characters and tracks added on a regular basis.

Either way, we’ll be surprised if extra content for this game isn’t shown in the Direct tomorrow.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment DLC

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Age of Imprisonment feels like it’s getting DLC at some point

Similarly, we suspect Age of Imprisonment is getting DLC too. The base game feels woefully undercooked right now, with no playable villains, no interesting postgame missions and a severe lack of interesting locations compared to Age of Calamity.

Presumably, the Direct tomorrow will at least hint towards an update or DLC release that fixes this. Like what happened to its predecessor.

3D Mario

There’s also the whole 3D Mario thing to deal with too. Donkey Kong Bananza may have taken it’s place as year 1’s 3D platformer, but it’s almost inevitable that a true 3D Mario game will be revealed for the console soon as well.

Tomorrow seems like the perfect time to provide a teaser for it.

As for what it’ll be… hard to say. Personally, we’d assume it’d take Bowser’s Fury and Odyssey as its game design blueprints, so it’d be a big open world Mario game with a bunch of bite-sized challenges in themed areas. Hopefully it won’t take place in a post-apocalyptic world though!

Luigi’s Mansion 4

Finally, for a crazy idea, we think there’s a decent chance that a new Luigi’s Mansion game could be on the way. After all, Next Level Games hasn’t had much in the pipeline since Mario Strikers: Battle League in 2022, with their last known development work in general being design support for Metroid Prime 4.

But Luigi’s Mansion is their big series now, and 3 was one of the most successful Mario spinoffs ever made. It only seems reasonable that a new game will be announced in this Direct too.

As for how exactly it’ll work?

Yeah, your guess is as good as ours. The Luigi’s Mansion series is an unpredictable one, and Next Level Games themselves are masters of game design in almost every way.

Still, if we had to take a guess here, we’d say a semi open-world game set in a haunted town or city seems quite plausible here. This would presumably take a bit more influence from the Ghostbusters series, and have Luigi and E Gadd visit/clear out haunted buildings after King Boo decides to conquer the world or something.

So, you’d have haunted houses and graveyards, schools and churches, government and office buildings, etc. Maybe along with a theme park, cruise ship, factory or other crazy location to vary things up.

Either way, we’re pretty sure a fourth Luigi’s Mansion game is coming at some point. It’s just we’re not sure if tomorrow’s Direct is when they’d actually show it.

Switch 2 Editions

Regardless, let’s talk about Switch 2 Editions now. Which of those could be on the table?

Well, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on Switch has code for 4K resolutions, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that got a Switch 2 edition at some point. The fact it runs at 30fps right now only makes that even more likely.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership seems like a possibility as well. The game runs surprisingly poorly on Switch 1, and it did well enough to justify some extra attention.

So, both of those games seem like distinct possibilities, and potential minor trailers in a Direct presentation.

Some sort of Splatoon upgrade on Switch 2 seems plausible here too. Both Splatoon 2 and 3 were big hits on the original Switch, and neither have a Switch 2 edition at the moment. Again, could be an easy win here.

There’s also talk of a Pikmin 4 one too. Given that doesn’t have a Switch 2 edition right now, and the chance of a Pikmin 4 being out before 2028 or so is slim, we could definitely see Nintendo announcing that in a Direct too.

Other Content

Zelda Movie

Zelda Movie Release Date Thumbnail

Are we due for a trailer for this film?

There’s also the distinct possibility of a Zelda movie trailer in the Direct too. That’s because the film has already finished filming with a confirmed release date, while not getting much marketing from Nintendo as of yet.

A new trailer in the Direct would bring it back to the foreground again, and keep the Zelda anniversary hype going alongside the Ocarina of Time remake.

Super Nintendo World

Speaking of Zelda in other formats, we wouldn’t be surprised if a Super Nintendo World update got featured in the Direct or another event either. Presumably, one that reveals a Legend of Zelda themed area is coming to the park.

The evidence for it is almost overwhelming at this point. There are Zelda window decorations in the existing park, and some merch on the shelves. A full-blown live-action movie is coming in a year or so. The last few games broke sales records for the series and are some of Nintendo’s best selling Switch titles…

And it’s Nintendo’s second most treasured franchise after Mario. If any franchise is coming to Universal Studios after Mario, it’s this one.

So, while it’s not super likely, we do believe there’s a chance we could see something here. At least, if it’s not saved for a future Direct or social media announcement down the line.

Nintendo Music

Finally, it feels like there’s a chance that a Nintendo Music related announcement could come in the Direct as well. Most obviously, that the service is coming to the Switch and Switch 2.

It just makes so much sense, doesn’t it? It’s already available on computers and mobile devices, and it’s already a distinct part of Nintendo’s Switch Online service. A Switch/Switch 2 version available on consoles feels like such an easy win for the company.
We can definitely see that getting featured, especially if the Switch Online price tag ever needs to go up for whatever reason.

An Unrealistic Conclusion

Either way, those are our predictions for tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct. We don’t expect all of them to be featured there (since Nintendo is probably one of the most unpredictable companies in existence), but we do expect a decent chunk to be shown in some capacity or another.

Honestly, we’d guess between 1/3 and 1/2 of our predictions here will be included in the presentation, and the rest will be announced later in 2026 or 2027.

But hey, that’s just our thoughts on the matter. What do you expect to see in tomorrow’s Direct?
