As you know, one of the most memorable scenes in the Super Mario Bros Movie is when the bros enter the warp pipe for the first time. Once they do this, Mario & Luigi get flung through a multicoloured void, before eventually getting split and dropped into different areas, with Mario ending up in the Mushroom Kingdom and poor Luigi ending up in Bowser’s domain in the Darklands.
But have you wondered what it’d be like as a Mario Kart track? Or wished you could explore this void by go-kart?
If so, you’re in luck! That’s because a modder by the name of ‘supersmashpastel’ has created a custom Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track based on the scene! Here’s a video showing it in action, courtesy of RyanL181095:
As you can see, it’s a pretty neat, colourful experience. You’ve got lots of anti gravity sections, split paths, races through pipes and the void, and even a custom mini map to keep it feeling official. It’s a cool track, and one which definitely translates the scene to Mario Kart’s engine really well.
And that makes us wonder something else too. That being… what other scenes could get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks here?
Could we see a fan made track set in Toad Town, where Mario and co have to race through the bustling city version from the movie? Will the Rainbow Road equivalent there get turned into a custom track, perhaps even with the glassy look from the film? How about Bowser’s Castle, or the Jungle Kingdom, or Brooklyn?
All of those scenes and more could easily become Mario Kart tracks with a bit of creativity, and it’ll be exciting to see where fans create further down the line.
So yeah, what do you think about it all? Are you happy to see part of the Super Mario Bros Movie turned into a race track? What’s the likelihood an official one gets added to Tour somewhere down the line?
