Earlier today, Nintendo released a new update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Designed to make the game work better on the Switch 2, the update adds various extras like Zelda Notes compatibility and improved performance.
However, the changes weren’t limited to new features and performance improvements. No, a few notable glitches got fixed too.
Here’s a video explaining which ones they are and how they got fixed:

As you can see, the two affected tricks are Bow Lock Super Slide (BLSS) and the Hinox Curse.
With the former being the weirdest of the two. You see, up until the point you start flying, everything works as expected here. You can smuggle your bow to run around with it in Link’s hand. You can get an item stuck to your hand, like a bomb or pot.
And you still get pushed around if you interact with NPCs in that state. So, every step of the glitch works here. There are no obvious changes to the physics system that would explain the lack of flight.
But no, something’s different. Whenever you try to fly by going up a step in this state, Link gets locked in place and that’s it.
Meanwhile, the Hinox Curse is another story entirely. This is a weird bug where pushing a Hinox into a waterfall breaks the game’s physics, sorta like the Lizalfos Curse from earlier versions of the game.
It’s a bizarre bug, and one we covered quite a bit back in the day.
However, it’s now gone in version 1.8. The game still freaks out if you try to shove a Hinox into the waterfall, and there are still all these weird sound effects due to the game struggling to keep up…
But the Hinox itself doesn’t seem to despawn. It just stays loaded, and nothing happens beyond that. So yeah, another curse is dead.
And that’s it. Every other glitch in the game is still present in version 1.8. Inventory Slot Transfer and its sub-glitches? Still work as expected. Map Storage, Inventory Storage and ARMS? Still fully functional, and as hilariously broken as ever. Apparatus Storage, Moon Jump, Wrong Warp, item smuggling, escaping the final boss… they’re all here and work as you’d hope they would.
So, it’s weird that only BLSS and the Hinox Curse got patched here.
However, we suspect there’s a simple answer here. That being, Nintendo probably didn’t patch them intentionally.
Since if they actually intended to, they’d patch the glitch in full, in a much more obvious way. You’d be unable to get items stuck to your hand while holding a bow. Hinoxes would refuse to go near waterfalls, or not interact with them. Heck, bow smuggling might be made impossible in its entirety.
The fact they didn’t do that implies they didn’t know these tricks got patched. They accidentally fixed them with a physics update while trying to improve the game’s performance in general.
Still, it’s impossible to know. Perhaps Nintendo did intend to patch them this way after all.
Either way, what do you think? Are you disappointed that these two glitches got patched here? What other tricks and glitches are fixed in version 1.8?
