When it comes to Pokémon TCG Pocket, updates have been coming thick and fast. From Mythical Island in December 2024 to Celestial Guardians in 2025, expansions for the game have been announced and released on a monthly basis, with powerful new cards included in every one them to boot.

And it seems the pattern is only continuing this month too. Why? Because in just under a week (May 29th), the next expansion for the game will be released. Titled Extradimensional Crisis and focused on generation 7 once again, it introduces the Ultra Beasts, Necrozma forms and Type: Null to the game, as well as various others not included in the past set.

As you can see, the new cards are surprisingly not all that powerful this time around. They’re good sure, and many of them will definitely find a place in some type of team or another…

But compared to the last few expansions, they’re rather well-balanced overall. There are no equivalents to Solgaleo EX, Darkrai EX or or Giratina EX that cleave a trail of bloody destruction through the metagame this time around, with even the most powerful new cards shown in the trailer and promos seemingly to have enough drawbacks to keep them in check.

So who knows, it seems like there’s a bit less pressure to get all the new cards this time around. At least from what we can see.
