Wow, it’s certainly surprising how many decade long hiatuses the Switch era is ending, isn’t it?
Indeed, with Pikmin 4 releasing after 10 years, Metroid Dread becoming a reality after 20 and even a new Rhythm Heaven game getting announced in the recent Direct, it seems like Nintendo is bringing a lot of popular series out of development limbo or hell.
And that pattern is only continuing with the next major surprise from that presentation. Why? Because out of nowhere, they announced a new Tomodachi Life game was coming to Switch too! Here’s the trailer for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream from today’s Direct:

As you can see, it’s everything fans would have wanted in a new instalment. You’ve got a tropical island to have your Miis play around on, and you get to see them live out their lives and interact with each other in this lovely new environment. It’s the same Sims like gameplay fans loved in the original game back in 2013, except with shinier graphics and more features.
So, with the exception of the dream exploration feature, it’s pretty much a sequel in the most direct way possible. You get your life sim elements and your giant Mii nightmares, and that’s about it.
But hey, it’s a new game, and that’s all we ever needed in a series like this one. Definitely check it out if you’re into Sims like games, or casual lifesim titles in general.
