As anyone who follows this site knows all too well, unused content is hardly a rarity in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There are various unused weapons in the files, like a separate version of Zelda’s torch from the prologue. There are weird unused items, like Yiga Clan members and shrine obstacles.

An unused Yiga member item, which can start the mini game from anywhere
And there are even entire unused dungeons there too, like an early version of the Spirit Temple that feels more like a test room than anything else.
It’s an insane situation, and one that makes Tears of the Kingdom a title where there’s more unused content than stuff left in the actual game.
With that pattern only continuing with the latest crazy discovery. Why? Because fans have now found an unused chasm out of bounds in the game, deep underneath the floor in the Hebra Depths.
Here’s a video showing it in action:

As you can see, it’s a weird setup. If you clip below the floor at the coordinates 2906,3094, -1024 (just South East of the Mu-ufatur Lightroot), you’ll find this fully-modelled chasm covered with Gloom. It doesn’t lead anywhere or have anything crazy at the bottom, it just exists out of bounds in the game.
And it’s weirdly deep too.
Indeed, with the chasm ending around -1309 coordinates wise, it goes down further than the canyon mines in the Depths, and is twice as deep as the entrance to the second level of the Spirit Temple.
So, it’s not just some random piece of accidental level geometry, nor a small extra cut from the game like that mysterious cave was. It’s a full-blown shaft to nowhere that clearly had a greater purpose at some time in the past.
As for what that purpose was, well it’s probably we’ll never know. It’s not shown in Masterworks or any other concept art, and there’s no evidence in the files of anything being dummied out at that location. Hence whatever was planned is probably just lost to time at this point.
Regardless, check out the video for some more info and speculation, see the images below for a look at the shaft and its entrance…
