The Mario & Luigi: Brothership Dev Has Been Revealed

Ever since Mario & Luigi: Brothership was revealed in June 2024, fans have wondered exactly who was behind the game. After all, AlphaDream went bankrupt shortly after the Bowser’s Inside Story remake flopped, while Nintendo showed no interest in acquiring their staff for an internal development team.

As a result, it was left in the air as to who could even be behind the game. Intelligent Systems? ILCA? Next-Level Games?

Well as it turns out, the answer is none of those. Instead, Acquire (the devs behind games like Octopath Traveller and Tenchu) are the folks responsible for Brothership.

Here’s a tweet confirming it by Nintendeal:

But how did this info get out? How did we find out, if Nintendo was so paranoid about telling us in the first place?

Well, by the same means as Echoes of Wisdom’s developer of course. The game’s copyright info on the Switch dashboard.

Yeah, it seems like that feature’s going to be our source for most developer info going forward. It lists trademarks and company names, and it’s always available… so it’s the only one we’ve got.

Still, what are your thoughts on it? Are you excited to see these guys take on the Mario & Luigi series? Could they be responsible for future games, assuming this one is a hit?
