The Mario Galaxy Movie Gets Another Direct

The Mario Galaxy Movie Gets Another Direct

Damn, Nintendo really wants to give us everything except a general Nintendo Direct, don’t they? Indeed, with a Partner Showcase, Indie World and Tomodachi Life specific Direct in recent times, it seems like the company’s doing everything in its power to stream just about anything else.

And that pattern seemingly continues with the latest announcement. Why? Because just over a month after the previous Direct for the film, they’ve announced another Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct is on the way. Here’s the announcement from their Twitter page:

As you can see, it’s happening on March 9th 2026, aka one day before Mario Day 2026. It’s also got no information about any actual games in the presentation, with the movie being the only subject of the Direct this time around.

More interestingly though, it also confirms some interesting comebacks too. Mouser and Wart.

Yeah, not only do we now have official artwork for Mouser’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie appearance, we now have confirmation that Wart is making an appearance as well. Given he last appeared in the Mario franchise in Super Mario Advance back in 2001, that’s quite the shocking return to say the least.

What’s more, it makes us wonder… who else are we gonna see?

Because while Fryguy and Tryclyde seem like obvious inclusions given their fellow SMB 2 bosses all make appearances here, we have to guess that other obscure characters are going to appear as well. Maybe some of the Super Mario Galaxy bosses will appear in some way, like King Kaliente, Dino Piranha or Topmaniac? Perhaps a Mario Odyssey boss or too may follow in the footsteps of the T-Rex, like the Mechawiggler or Ruined Dragon? Could Wario actually be in the movie like the rumours suggest he is?

Honestly, anything seems likely at this point. We just hope the movie’s storyline makes sense with all this stuff crammed into it, and isn’t some rushed series of random scenes with little context or emotion to it.

Regardless, what do you think? What are your thoughts on Wart being in the movie, or other unexpected characters making a comeback? What things do you expect to see in the Nintendo Direct next week? And hey, how likely is it that a general Direct is around the corner as well?
