In the last few years, there’s been an interesting trend towards localising obscure Japan-only games. Whether it’s Square Enix’s work with Trials of Mana and Live A Live, Nintendo’s limited-time remake of the original Fire Emblem, or Ace Attorney Investigations 2 being localised 13 years later, it’s always nice to see games that were previously stuck in one region get made available worldwide instead.
And it seems that trend is only continuing today. Why? Because right out of the blue, Nintendo has announced that the first 3 Legendary Starfy games will be available to play on Nintendo Switch Online! Here’s the trailer showing them in action:
As you can see, they haven’t been remade or localised here. They’re still in Japanese and retain the same mechanics as they did all those years prior.
But for games like this, it doesn’t matter. Starfy isn’t exactly a plot-heavy series in the slightest, and its structure is very understandable without any reading at all.
They’re basically Kirby games underwater, with all the platforming goodness that description entails.
Regardless, they’re now available to players outside of Japan too. So why not try them out? Perhaps you might even find a new favourite franchise as a result!
