Secure your Nintendo Account ASAP
Despite all the chaos going on in the world right now, unfortunately it appears even more is happening as Nintendo accounts are apparently being hacked into. This past weekend a number of Nintendo Switch owners have posted about third-party logins happening on their accounts, some resulting in the loss of funds, Nintendo Life reports. Nintendo has also recently issued a warning to account holders in Japan citing an increase in credit card fraud through Nintendo accounts.
To stop anyone from getting in your account and messing around, it is always suggested having two-step verification (annoying as it can be) enabled.
To set up two-step verification on your account, go to the Nintendo website and then sign into your account.
Afterward, go to “Sign-in and security settings” and then go down to “2-step verification” and click “Edit.”
When you click “2-Step Verification setup” on Nintendo’s site you’ll be sent an email with instructions on how to complete the verification process using Google Authenticator.
We hope these instructions saves you some headaches, but as always its always suggested not to have any actual form of payments like credit card or paypal tied to your account and instead buy eshop cards as needed.
So did you have two-step verification on before this? Has your account ever been backed before? Let us know below or on the forums.
