Ronaldo Appears in Fatal Fury: City of Wolves Crossover

Ronaldo Appears in Fatal Fury: City of Wolves Crossover

When it comes to crossovers, we’ve seen some bizarre ones in the past. There were EA’s sports games on GameCube, where Mario and co made guest appearances in the likes of NBA Street V3 and SSX3: On Tour. There are the various Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest crossovers in the Mario series, like Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and Fortune.

And there are the absolute masters of insanity that are most crossover fighting games. Whether it’s Super Smash Bros, PlayStation All-Stars or MultiVersus, there have been some truly incredible character choices thrown around here. Like Joker, Steve, Jason Vorhees or Anya Stark.

But the latest crossover news is strange even by those standards. Why? Because out of the blue, Cristiano Ronaldo announced he’d be appearing in Fatal Fury: City of Wolves.

No, you didn’t read that wrong. We’re talking about the footballer here. The one with probably the most insane win record of all time, and one of the most well-known celebrities in his field.

Somehow, he’s appearing in Fatal Fury in some form:

So, how the hell is this going to work? Are we really going to see a professional football player become a playable character in a fighting game?

Honestly, who knows? I mean, it’s not like there’s no precedent for having real life individuals playable in wacky cartoon crossovers. The aforementioned MultiVersus made Lebron James a playable character, and lets you use him to beat up Bugs Bunny or Superman:

So at this point? Yeah, Ronaldo could well be throwing punches against Terry Bogard or something. Stranger things have happened before, and it’d make perfect sense if they want to appeal to the Brazilian market. After all, they love both Ronaldo and Fatal Fury after all…

It’s just weird to think about. Proof that we live in a world where anyone and everyone can appear in anything and everything. Where crossovers and ties in can go absolutely insane, no matter how nonsensical it might first appear.

Still, what are your thoughts here? Do you think Ronaldo will actually be playable in Fatal Fury: City of Wolves? Or will the crossover come in a very different form instead?
