Well folks, seems more news about the Super Mario Galaxy movie is on the way. Yep, as announced by Nintendo on the Nintendo Today app (and later social media), a Nintendo Direct for the film is due to air this Sunday at 2pm UK time. Here’s the announcement about it courtesy of the Nintendo of America Twitter account:
Join us on Sunday, Jan 25, at 6am PT for the #NintendoDirect featuring an exclusive look at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Please note that no game information will be included in this presentation.

It’s a fairly convenient time and day for most of us, and an equally unexpected one for a Nintendo Direct. But what could be shown off? What could Nintendo announce?
Well, there’s been talk of other important characters present in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Captain Toad has been seen on packaging for a few things, Yoshi still hasn’t got an official voice actor, and there’s also been rumours of characters like Wario and the Koopalings making appearances as well.
So, it could be a good time to announce some of the cast members for those characters too.
It could also be a chance to reveal some more story details and character roles too. Indeed, while Yoshi was hinted at in the last movie (and shown on marketing materials for this one), we’ve not seen him in action in any trailers. Hence a reveal about his role in the film could make sense here.
And hey, there’s also the high likelihood of a new trailer in general. So, regardless of what other details get announced, we’re sure to see at least some extra footage for the film. Perhaps even something that reveals more important plot details, like Bowser Jr’s secondary goals?
