New Sticker Star Mod Overhauls Everything!

New Sticker Star Mod Overhauls Everything!

When it comes to the Paper Mario series, Paper Mario: Sticker Star is almost always seen as the lowest point in the series. Disliked for removing RPG elements and original characters, the game is one of the most disliked Mario games in the entire franchise, and the point where the Paper Mario series as a whole went into terminal decline.

However, it seems Sticker Star might be getting the upgrade it desperately needs. Why? Because a group of fans have now announced Paper Mario: The Sticker Comet, a full-blown overhaul of the game which improves on just about every aspect of the original title. Take a look at the trailer here:

As you can see, the game basically fixes every issue the fans had with the original game. You’ve got more original characters and settings, with both familiar faces like Toadette and newcomers inspired by the earlier Paper Mario games replacing the hordes of generic Toads throughout the adventure. There are more enemies than before, with Paper Mario exclusive foes like Koopatrols joining mainstays like Monty Moles and Snifits in early game areas.

And most excitingly of all, partners have been reimplemented too. Such as Chompy, a playable Chain Chomp partner inspired by the one from the game’s prototype!

As you can see, the original version of Paper Mario: Sticker Star had a Chain Chomp partner

It’s basically everything the fans dreamed of for this game, and the Sticker Star equivalent of other Paper Mario reimaginings like The Origami King Refolded.

Of course, if you liked some elements from the original title, those are indeed here as well. You still use stickers in battles like before, you can still get Things and break battles with their powerful attacks. And whether you like her or hate her, Kersti is still a party member here, having mostly the same role as in the original game.

So, it’s really a best of both worlds’ situation. The things that helped Sticker Star stand out remain intact, while the things it does poorly or removes have been redone or readded respectively.

Regardless, Paper Mario: The Sticker Comet seems to be everything fans wanted from Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It’s an improved version of the original with lots of new characters, enemies and mechanics, and is due to be released on a per chapter basis starting from 2026.

Definitely one to check out if you’re a Paper Mario fan!
