When it comes to video game mods, the communities making them seem to get faster and faster at it. Indeed, with the last few years having everything from mods on release to mods for leaked versions of games, it almost seems like it’s become a bit of a competition to see who can be the first to release a mod for a new title.
And that absurdity only gets more obvious with Mario vs Donkey Kong on Switch. Why?
Because despite only having a demo available to the public, someone has already modded Super Mario 64 era Mario into the game! Here’s the post on Twitter showing the project in action:

Yeah, it’s a simple one. You’ve just got a new model for the main protagonist, and that’s it.
But it’s still crazy to see based on its circumstances alone. After all, we don’t even have a full game yet. And that demo we mentioned is only 4 levels long.
So, the fact someone thought it was even worth modding is amusing to us. Like, they had all the games in the world to hack and they chose this one? Damn, guess they’re getting their practice in for the full game’s release later this month!
Regardless, that’s the first ever mod for the Mario vs Donkey Kong remake on Switch. So, what do you think about it? Are you surprised to see someone mod a demo? What kind of mods and hacks do you think the final game will have when its released later this month?
