Well folks, it’s finally here! Yep, the next major trailer for Mario & Luigi: Brothership is now available online, and it’s looking better than ever. Here’s the video if you somehow haven’t seen it already:
As you can tell, it’s basically the perfect Mario & Luigi game. The visuals look better than ever, given we’ve got the power of the Switch to work with rather than the comparably limited 3DS. The music and sound effects are on point, with Kevin Afghani doing a great job replacing Charles Martinet as the titular duo.
And on a gameplay level it seems to be just about everything you’d ever expect from the series. The level up and rank system returns and works as expected. The bros attacks are all as flashy and exciting as ever, with a good mix of the old and new. Plus, the new additions like Luigi Logic and Battle Plugs are a nice addition to the formula too, with the former having Luigi come up with new solutions to obstacles in both the overworld and battle, and the latter adding like a cross between gear and clothing, with effects like dropping spiked balls on enemies or guaranteeing critical hits against certain enemy types.
It’s all very good stuff, and exactly what we were hoping for in a new game from this beloved franchise.
What’s more, it’s not the only new info we have about the game either.
No, various news publications got to try it out too. Like our friends over at GoNintendo.
This preview gives even more details about the game, including the gist of the story (the islands were connected by magical cords that have snapped due to some nefarious scheme), the Brothership’s role as a mobile hub world, and some details about certain characters and quests, including a character called Dyode that needed some hair gel for an upcoming performance.
Again, it’s all very interesting stuff, and shows without a doubt that the spirit of the original series is 100% intact in this new entry.
So yeah, that’s the latest from Brothership. It’s got a new trailer, the press has their hands on it, and there’s a ton more evidence that the new team has absolutely nailed the feel of the original series with this incredible new instalment.
