As you likely know, the last year has been an incredible one for fan games and ROM hacks. We’ve seen Super Mario Eclipse utterly replace Super Mario Sunshine, with new levels, characters and mechanics. We’ve seen the Super Mario 64 scene go mad, with everything from Mario Maker equivalents to full-blown adventures being released throughout the year.
And now, it seems like it’s Super Mario Bros 3’s time to shine. Why? Because after years of development, Mario Adventure 3 has now been released to the public!
Here’s the official site with more information:

Plus, a trailer for the project:
Yeah, to say this is an ambitious hack might be the understatement of the century. Indeed, this hack has everything you can imagine in the SMB 3 engine, and then some.
There are custom powerups, like Ninja Mario, Ice Mario and Fox Mario. There are new items, like the recovery wings and stopwatch. There are all manner of new level themes, based on things like Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario World.
And that’s not even the end of it. From new enemies and bosses to new level mechanics, weather and a day & night system, the game is probably the most technically advanced hack the original SMB 3 has ever seen, and one that puts even the likes of Super Mario Bros 3Mix to shame.
So yeah, definitely check it out if you’re an old school Mario fan! It’s an awesome looking game that’s sure to revolutionise SMB 3 hacking forever, and one that’s come a long way since our interview with developer ScarlettVixen back in 2017.
It’s the overhaul SMB 3 has always needed, and one we’re glad is finally available to the public.
