Glen Powell Voices Fox in Mario Galaxy Movie

Glen Powell Voices Fox in Mario Galaxy Movie

Recently, we had the surprise reveal that Fox McCloud (the protagonist of the eponymous Star Fox series) was appearing in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It was a big shock to the system, and one that seemingly came out of nowhere given how little the two franchises are associated with each other.

However, we also didn’t get a name at the time. We knew Fox was in it, and we knew what he’d look like, but his actual voice actor was still a mystery. Heck, at one point, there were even rumours that one of Sonic’s old voice actors would be getting the role!

Now though, we know for sure. Fox McCloud is being voiced by Glen Powell, as confirmed in this official Instagram Reel:

Yeah, that’s quite the amusing way to announce the role, isn’t it? Having him bounce around a cinema like Mario only to reveal he’s dressed like Fox while the Star Fox theme plays… that’s sure one way to make an entrance here.

Regardless, his acting career sure seems to have been an interesting one until now. He’s had fairly minor roles in Spy Kids 3D and The Dark Knight Rises, a much bigger one as LT Jake Seremin in Top Gun: Maverick, and some lead roles since, with films like Devotion and Hit Man showing a somewhat mixed career as a main star.

Still, the fact he got so into the role in the reveal and the positive reviews some of the films he’s been in received means we can’t be too critical here. Just like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black exceeded our expectations as the main cast in the last film, there’s a good choice Glen could be the right choice for Fox in this one too. So, we’ll just have to see what happens here.
