As anyone who’s been keeping up with Nintendo games and consoles knows too well, the company hasn’t exactly done much with the F-Zero series in recent times. Indeed, ever since F-Zero GX on the GameCube, the series has basically been abandoned altogether, with references being reduced to Captain Falcon appearances in Smash Bros and the odd vehicle or stage cameo in the Mario Kart series.
As a result, the chances of a new game on Switch are slim to none. There’s just no interest from Nintendo, fan requests be damned.
But there is a slight silver lining there. Why? Because not only is the original F-Zero on the Nintendo Switch Online SNES app, but the N64 entry is coming to its respective Switch Online library too!
Yep, as Nintendo mentions on social media, F-Zero X is being added to the Switch Online Expansion Pass N64 game library this Friday! Here’s the post about it on Twitter:
Race at speeds of over 1,000 km/h when F-Zero X comes to #NintendoSwitch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members on 3/11. #Nintendo64.

It’s not a replacement for a new game in any way, and it’s not gonna sell anyone on the Switch Online Expansion Pass…
But it’s an appreciated inclusion nonetheless, and one that means F-Zero fans will be able to play another game in the series online with their friends as a result.
So yeah, what do you think? Are you excited for F-Zero X’s return here? What’s the chances you’ll play the game online at some point?
