There are some really interesting wins here for sure. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope as the best strategy game? That’s not a decision we expected to see in a million years, though it’s a well earned one given how awesome the Mario + Rabbids games actually are. Same with Bayonetta 3 winning best action game, or Splatoon 3 being the best multiplayer one. Both are very well deserved given their genre, but unexpected at a usually Sony dominated award show nonetheless.
And even if we’re a Nintendo focused site, we can acknowledge the other games and nominees are great choices too. Elden Ring definitely deserved to win Game of the Year, and God of War Ragnarok is a really good game too. So the best choices definitely won this year for sure.
Still, what did you think of the winners this year? Were you happy to see so many Nintendo titles do well at this year’s ceremony? What games do you think should have been nominated for or won awards this year?
