Age of Imprisonment May Get DLC Soon?

Earlier today, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment was released for the Switch 2. A Warriors game set in the Imprisoning War from Tears of the Kingdom backstory, it got positive reviews from both fans and critics, and stirred up a lot of hype in the community.

And it seems like Nintendo and Tecmo Koei are doing their best to keep that hype going for as long as possible. Why? Because this very day, the official Japanese Twitter account for the game announced that extra content would be getting added via two morefree updates coming in the foreseeable future.

Here’s the original post about it:

Plus, a quick translation:

[Free update planned]

We plan to release two more free updates over the next few days, allowing you to enjoy Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment for even longer.

Please look forward to this broadcast as well.

Yeah, it seems to be referring to some sort of DLC, that’s for sure. The talk about players being able to enjoy the game for even longer definitely appears to allude to things like new weapons or features being added here, even if they’re more on the minor side compared to what you’d find in a paid DLC pack.

What’s more, the talk about broadcasts gives us the impression we’re getting trailers for this stuff too. Presumably, ones that feature enough interesting additions to make them worth posting.

So, while it’s almost certainly not gonna be on the scale of a Switch 2 edition of an old game or paid DLC on par with Donkey Kong Bananza, it’s probably going to be impressive enough to showcase online. Being able to say, press + on the pause screen to switch character or having a little flag appear over levels that unlock new characters probably wouldn’t make the cut for that.

Either way, Age of Imprisonment is getting more features and content of some sort or another, and it’s getting it soon. We’ll have to see what exactly that is when the announcements are officially posted online.
