Now that The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom has been released, Nintendo’s 2023 schedule looks very quiet indeed. With the exception of Pikmin 4 in July and the ever mysterious Metroid Prime 4, the console’s future lineup is basically empty, with no major Nintendo games planned towards the year.
It’s a weird situation for sure, and one which made many Nintendo fans wonder if a Nintendo Direct was around the corner.
Well, as it turns out, their predictions were indeed correct. Why? Because as the title suggests, the company is hosting a new Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 3pm, with a whopping 40 minutes of information about upcoming Nintendo Switch games! Here’s the announcement about it from their UK Twitter page:
A new #NintendoDirect is coming!
Watch the livestream at 15:00 (UK time) on 21/06 for roughly 40 minutes of info, focusing mostly on #NintendoSwitch games releasing later this year, including new details on #Pikmin4.

But what could be in the presentation? What games could Nintendo have lined up for the rest of the year?
Since with the exception of Pikmin 4 (which Nintendo mentions by name in the announcement), we don’t have many clues as to what’s in the pipeline. Oh sure, there might be that 1-2 Switch sequel that people have mocked for the last few weeks, and it’s probable that Tears of the Kingdom will be getting both amiibo and DLC (the data for the former has actually been datamined from the game).
Plus the next wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC is practically a shoe in…
Yet we don’t really know much beyond that. They’ve left us no hints, and there are no left over game releases from earlier in the year or the year before.
However, there are some interesting leaks here. For instance, at least a couple of our sources have indicated that a 2D Mario game could be a big part of the event, with a unique theme and setup that completely differentiates it from the New Super Mario Bros series. So, if those rumours are correct, that could be the big holiday game right there.
And there are also whispers of some interesting remakes too, with folks online speculating that titles like Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door, Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy 6 could be getting redone by Nintendo and Square Enix respectively. So again, that could be Direct material too.
But it’s too early to be 100% sure nonetheless. It’s just leaks and speculation, and we’d rather just stay skeptical for the time being.
Either way, you can find some times for the Direct in the table below:
Region | Nintendo Direct Time |
---|---|
UK (GMT) | 3pm |
US (PST) | 7am |
US (ET) | 10am |
Japan (JST) | 11pm |
Europe (CEST) | 4pm |
