Mario Kart 8 has already sold 1.2 million copies!
In it’s first weekend to boot! That’s pretty good for a Wii U game, given that just about every other title for the system has maybe sold only about 3 or 4 times that over the space of many agonising months.
Seems like we may well have found the console’s first real ‘killer app’ so to speak, the one game that’ll finally turn its fortunes round and get the system flying off store shelves. Read on if you want to hear what Reggie had to say about the news…

The early response to Mario Kart 8 demonstrates that the best days for Wii U are still ahead…This year’s E3 is just days away, and it will be all about the future games for Nintendo platforms. This milestone is a great place to start!
Either way, congrats to Nintendo. You’ve finally released a Wii U game that’s both doing well commercially and that has gotten critical acclaim on almost all fronts.
