Long, long before Epic Mickey was ever a thing, when licensed Disney video games were actually seen as good and when 2D platformers on the SNES and Genesis were a major thing, there was this rather well known Mickey Mouse game called Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. It was a fantastic 2D platformer that ended up getting multiple sequels, and one that’s forever been held in licensing limbo due to Sega not having any control over the Mickey Mouse license any more.
But could this finally be about to change? Could Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse really be about to be rereleased for the Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Playstation Vita? Perhaps so, and I have to say that’d be pretty awesome.
Yes, apparently Sega have renewed the trademark on the title and there’s discussion of being rereleased for modern systems. Here’s the information from the original source:
Título: CASTLE OF ILLUSION STARRING MICKEY MOUSE (Estados Unidos da América – 1990)

Distribuidor(es): Sega Of America, Inc.
Classificação Pretendida: Livre
Plataforma: Xbox 360/PlayStation 3/PlayStation Vita/Wii U

And here’s some video footage from the game in case you don’t know what the original was like. You probably do though, Mushroom Kingdom Fusion took its Toyland level and boss from the game and many people probably learned about the game from that. Still, here’s how the original game looked and played:
So what do you think about this? Are you happy that Castle of Illusion might finally be seeing a rerelease? And more importantly, does anyone else think Sega should also make it available on the 3DS eShop for those people who played Epic Mickey the Power of Illusion and wanted to try out the original?
