Super Mario 3D World Soundtrack to be available on Club Nintendo!

In Japan at least, where a 77 track set of soundtrack CDs will be buyable by Club Nintendo members in the region.

But what does it look like?  What do I think of this whole deal?  Find out below in the full length post…

Here’s the cover art for the soundtrack CD:

Mario 3D World Soundtrack

As you can see, it’s pretty well designed, with two colourful CDs decorated with character artwork and all manners of other decorations.  Add the main playable characters playing instruments in cat suits and Bowser providing music support on the drums, and you’ve got a pretty nice item for music fans and collectors alike.

So it looks promising, and from what we’ve heard of the music itself, it sounds promising too.  However…

This needs to be made available outside of Japan, ideally either via iTunes or actual video game/music shops.  Why?

Because otherwise, what’s the point?  Most people who like Nintendo don’t live in Japan or use that version of Club Nintendo.  To only make it available to a tiny subscriber base like previous CDs is rather unfair for the vast majority of Mario fans in other regions who might want to listen to their favourite songs whenever they want and support Nintendo’s composers in doing so.

So that’s the Super Mario 3D World soundtrack.  Here’s hoping it turns out to be available to buy in other regions too.

Are you serious? Most people who like Nintendo don’t live in Japan? Tiny subscriber base? Are you saying Japan is an underpopulated, videogame-ignorant society where no one has ever heard of a world-famous character invented by a Japanese native who works for the third largest company in the country? Club Nintendo Japan likely has more members than all other regions combined. I live here, and Japan practically breathes video games, dude.
