New Mega Man games will appear on Handheld and Home Console systems
With Capcom cancelling many of his latest games and the last title even remotely related to the series being a mediocre spinoff only available as a downloadable phone game, things haven’t been looking too good for the Mega Man series. But thankfully, it seems this might change soon, since someone from Capcom has confirmed they’re still working on new games in the series for both home consoles and handheld systems. Here’s the original quote:
“I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details
So it seems like there’s still hope for the series yet. And I see their reasoning with the whole issue of talking about games before they’re certain they’ll come out, the last few times they announced a game like that we ended up with the fiascos of Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe. Can you imagine how much hatred they’d get if they announced a classic Mega Man game then said they were cancelling that a few months later?
But yes, people can relax a bit now, the Mega Man series is going nowhere and will be getting new games in the forseeable future.
