KFC is Publishing a Dating Sim Starring Colonel Sanders

If we told you that KFC was publishing a video game, what kind of game do you think you’d expect them to make?

Maybe it’d be a platformer, like the old McDonalds titles of yore?

Or maybe it’d be a cooking game, like Cooking Mama and its various clones.

Hell, perhaps if you’re really unlucky, it’d be one of those mediocre kart racers or party games certain franchises seem to get far too much of, starring whatever characters were in their ads and promos over the last few decades or so.

Regardless, it’s likely a dating sim wouldn’t be near the top of your list. It’s a fast food brand after all, and dating + fast food mascots seem like two things you’d never see together in a million years.

Yet someone times reality is stranger than fiction, since earlier today KFC and indie developer Noisy Pixel announced they were working on I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator, a dating game where you play as a culinary student who’s in the same class as the colonel and has the opportunity to both date him and go into business with him as KFC cofounder. Here’s the trailer for the title courtesy of its developer:

Plus a few screenshots taken from the same:

Yes this is a real thing

A dog in a chef’s apron and hat? Okay then

The rivals

The only rivals more ridiculous looking are those in the Pokemon series

Chicken is serious business apparently

Which make it pretty clear that the game’s creators are having a bit of fun with the wacky concept too. It’s not played seriously, you’ve got characters like a school teaching pooch, and there’s talk of Sanders lifting buckets of chicken above his head like they’re the holy grail. It’s the kind of jokey tone you’d expect for a game like this really, and it fits how the game seems to be going for internet meme appeal first and foremost.

So yeah, if you’re interested, check it out. It’s probably not the most conventional game you’ve seen in the last few years, but it’s a creative enough one none the less, and one that both appears to know just how absurd the basic premise really is and plays it up to its hilt.
