Do you ever wonder what Bowser might look like as a Pokemon? Or ever think that a Fire/Dragon type not called Mega Charizard could be cool?
If so, you’re going to love Tortunator! An armoured turtle Pokemon revealed for Pokemon Sun and Moon at Gamescom today, it’s a Fire/Dragon type with a very unique signature move.
Here’s it’s reveal trailer:
As well as the one piece of artwork showing it. As you can see, it’s got the ‘Bowser’ influence thing down quite well, and looks pretty tough in general.
And it only gets tougher with its new ability. Named Shell Smash, it basically acts like the Pokemon move equivalent to a landmine.
What do I mean by that? Well basically, it sets a trap when used. Then, if it’s hit with a physical attack on the same turn, the trap explodes and does a ton more damage than normal. Or in other words, it’s Bide meets Self Destruct or Explosion. Without you know, KOing Tortunator in the process.
It’s also said to be weaker if hit in its softer underbelly (like a Mario series Koopa), but that part likely doesn’t factor into anything game mechanics related. Which is a shame, since it’d make for a much neater ability effect than Shell Armour, don’t you think?
Either way, that’s Tortunator for you. Do you think it’s an interesting Pokemon? Is its design any good? Or are there flaws that make it less than useful in game?
